Meet Carrie

Potter formed The Carrie Potter Group, LLC in 2006 to manage professional athletes with a focus on three key priorities: protect their earnings, invest for their future, and give back to the community.  Her advisory business expanded its services and now offers financial planning and business consulting services to both small businesses and professional athletes.

The Carrie Potter Group has advised many professional athletes and small businesses successfully over the past eleven years. Potter has served as the lead liaison or advisor on the following matters: due diligence, forecasting, policies & procedures, business plans, strategy, tax, legal, insurance, cash management, asset allocation, real estate, estate planning and retirement planning.  In addition, CPG has created community partnerships, non-profit organizations, and engagement strategies that deliver widespread reach for her clients through community leadership opportunities, special events, and scholarship or grant funding programs. Carrie is also a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professional and Potter Investment Advisors is a Registered Investment Advisor in Texas.

WISE logo2015_Houston_091015First introduced to Women in Sports & Events (WISE) as a junior in college in Washington, DC, Potter maintained a connection with the organization. When approval was granted for a Houston Chapter in 2015, she joined the board immediately. Shortly thereafter, she was elected President and is excited to help launch the Houston Chapter of WISE, the leading leading voice and resource for professional women in the business of sports.

Potter earned her Master of Business Administration and Bachelor of Business Administration degrees from The George Washington University in Washington, DC, andimages has remained connected to the University. As an undergraduate, she was elected and served as the first female student body president and was awarded a Presidential Administrative Fellowship (PAF) for her graduate studies. Potter now serves on the Executive Committee of the Dean’s Board of Advisors for The George Washington University School of Business, interviews students for the GW Admissions Office, and co-hosts a Summer Send-Off for incoming GW students in the Houston area prior to the start of their freshman year.

Potter was a Fellow in Class XXXIV of the American Leadership Forum Houston/Gulf Coast Chapter and has been recognized as a 2016 Women on the Move from Texas Executive Women and a 2017 “40 Under 40” Honoree by the Houston Business Journal. When not serving clients or the community, Potter enjoys spending time with her miniature goldendoodle Penny, playing golf, practicing yoga, reading, and cooking.  Together Carrie & Penny serve with Faithful Paws Pet Therapy  and Peace Love Therapy Dogs throughout Houston. She grew up in Omaha, Nebraska, where she was valedictorian of Mercy High School.  Omaha is still where her parents and most of her family, five brothers and sisters, five nephews and two nieces, reside.  Another interesting fact is that Potter was the writing assistant for a book about Babe Ruth.
